An imperative sentence states something that is urgent for the listener to do as moral or legal binding. Imperative sentences are of four types :
- Commands or Orders
- Requests or Appeals
- Advice or Instrctions
- Proposals or Suggestions
Commands or Orders
A command is a sentence that states an order for the listener. It can be positive or negative.
Example
- Finish this job here and now.
- Don't touch my things at all.
- Shut the door at once.
- Bring me a glass of water.
A request is a sentence that states and apeal made by the speaker to the listner.
Example
- May I use your pen please?
- Have pity on me, my master.
- Help me with some food, sir.
- Could you do this much for me, please ?
Adivice or Instructions
An advice is a sentence that something that the listener mut do on legal or moral grounds.
Example
- Do your duty honestly.
- Always think before you speak.
- Never answer your seniors back.
- Pray to god twice every day.
Proposals or Suggestions
A proposal is a senence that suggests some action.
Example
- Let us go swimming in the canal.
- Let the bird fly out of the cage.
- Don't let the turth slip out of your toungue.
